"USHPIZIN"
Directed by Gidi Dar, Picturehouse's "Ushpizin" is a heartwarming and humorous Israeli drama set in the customarily closed world of Ultra-Orthodox Jews. "Ushpizin" tells the story of Moshe and Mali, a married couple, who are suffering financial difficulties. Naturally they pray for help, but instead of a miracle, two suspicious strangers with criminal pasts appear on their doorstep. The couple believes their guests were sent to them by God as a test of faith who will bless them with children if they follow the religious custom of receiving guests for the holy day (Ushpizin). As Moshe and Mali struggle with their impulses to protect their serene way of life and their religious obligation to show hospitality, the outrageous behavior of these unholy messengers and the havoc it brings to the Orthodox community will put Moshe and Mali's faith to the ultimate test. "Ushpizin" was made under Halachic (religious) law and shot in the Ultra-Orthodox Jerusalem neighborhoods of Beit Israel and Mea Shearim in accordance with Ultra-Orthodox codes. Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center. was the special guest at the Q/A session after the screening.

"ASYLUM"
Directed by David MacKenzie and starring Natasha Richardson, Ian McKellen and Marton Csokas, "Asylum" is a tale of mad love and obsessive jealousy. Paramount Classics' "ASYLUM" is the story of a psychiatrist's wife who encounters one of her husband's patients, an inmate at a maximum security asylum in the outskirts of London. Her curious attraction to this man, who was found guilty in the murder and disfigurement of his former wife, grows stronger as he's placed on the job to restore the asylum's conservatory, mere steps from her home. Based on Patrick McGrath's celebrated novel of erotic obsession, "ASYLUM" was adapted for the screen by award-winning writer Patrick Marber ("Closer") and Chrysanthy Balis. Male lead Marton Csokas and producer Mace Neufeld attended the Q/A session after the screening.

Miramax's "SECUESTRO EXPRESS"
by Jonathan Jakubowicz

Starring Mia Maestro and Ruben Blades. Every sixty minutes a person is abducted in Latin America. 70% of the victims do not survive. Miramax's "Secuestro Express" is the frightening story of one young couple's ordeal as they careen through the underbelly of Caracas, Venezuela, in the hands of three thugs who've made them their latest payday. Director Jonathan Jakubowicz attended the Q/A session after the screening.

Palm Pictures "CRONICAS"
by Sebastian Cordero

From the producers of Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN comes a shocking new thriller about the power of the media. Tabloid TV reporter, Manolo Bonilla (John Leguizamo) has traveled from Miami with his news crew on the trail of a story about a serial killer striking a small town in Ecuador. Convinced this story could be the 'big one' that makes him a star, he is willing to bend the rules to get the facts. But the more information he uncovers the more he finds his carefully planned story spinning dangerously out of control. Soon, Bonilla and his crew find themselves at the center of a frightening situation where even the best intentions can backfire. Featuring a pan-Latin cast and crew, "CRONICAS" is written and directed by Sebastian Cordero and produced by acclaimed filmmakers Alfonso Cuarón and Guillermo del Toro.
