HOLLYWOOD, Calif., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The prestigious Fifth Annual Hollywood Film Festival has announced the nominees for the 2001 "Hollywood Movie of the Year Awards" competition.
The announcement was made in Hollywood by Earl Lestz, chairman of the Hollywood Film Festival and president of Paramount Studios Group, Bridget Baiss, senior editor of Entertainment Tonight Online, and Mike Evans, U.S. publishing director of Variety.
The nominees for the "Hollywood Movie of the Year Award" are: BLOW, BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY, MEMENTO, MOULIN ROUGE, PEARL HARBOR and SHREK.
The nominees for the "Hollywood Actor of the Year Award" are: JOHNNY DEPP, COLIN FIRTH, ANTHONY HOPKINS, BEN KINGSLEY, EWAN McGREGOR and GUY PEARCE.
The nominees for the "Hollywood Actress of the Year Award" are: KATE BECKINSALE, PENELOPE CRUZ, ANGELINA JOLIE, NICOLE KIDMAN, JULIANNE MOORE and RENEE ZELLWEGER.
A Blue Ribbon committee of established Hollywood professionals selected the 6 award nominees in each category, and the winners will be chosen by film fans at voting polls in over 1,800 Hollywood Video stores across the United States, and at Entertainment Tonight Online's website etonline.com and variety.com. The voting starts July 1 and the winners will receive their awards at the "Hollywood Movie Awards Gala Ceremony" on August 6 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Last year's winners were Angelina Jolie and Russell Crowe, who accepted their awards at the Festival's gala closing night "Hollywood Movie Awards" dinner in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
This year's Festival will take place from August 1 to 6, and it will showcase a selection of soon-to-be-announced prestigious domestic and international feature films, shorts, documentaries, and animation. The venues include the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel for the "Hollywood Film Conference," Paramount Studios and Raleigh Studios for the "Hollywood Film Screenings" and the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the "Hollywood Movie Awards."
The Hollywood Film Festival has 12 Hollywood heads of studios, corporations, and organizations as members of its Advisory Board, and 35 highly regarded Hollywood professionals as Chairs.
