Honorary Mayor of Hollywood Johnny Grant, Academy Award-nominated actor James Woods, and director Ted Kotcheff will officially announce and reveal plans for the "Second Annual Hollywood Film Festival" at a press conference on Thursday, April 30, 1998, at The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Also scheduled is the unveiling of the 1998 commemorative Film Festival poster, created by the multi-award winning design firm, Pittard Sullivan. The "Hollywood Film Festival" will be an integral part of the effort to restore the Hollywood corridor to what it once was. The "Hollywood Film Festival," the only film festival to bear the Hollywood name and physically take place in Hollywood, is proud to embrace the community in which the film industry began. Founder and New York Times bestselling author Carlos de Abreu states that "Hollywood has been the one standard, the absolute leader in filmmaking, and so we created this festival in order to bridge the gap between established Hollywood and emerging filmmakers. We want to introduce neophyte talent from the global creative community to mainstream Hollywood." This year's "2nd Annual Hollywood Film Festival will showcase a selection of both domestic and international feature films, shorts, documentaries, animation, and new media works. The "First Annual Hollywood Film Festival," was a resounding success, with more than 400 film submissions, 140 industry professionals as panelists and guests, and thousands of attendees. Among those in attendance were Barbra Streisand, Kirstie Alley, and Martin Landau. James Brolin, Kirk Douglas, and Graham Nash were among the honorees.
