HOLLYWOOD MOVIE OF THE YEAR AWARDS...
AND THE NOMINEES ARE...
Hollywood Film Festival Announces the Nominees for
the 2002 Hollywood Movie, Actor & Actress of the Year Awards
Hollywood, CA -- September 8, 2002 -- The prestigious Sixth Annual Hollywood Film Festival has announced the nominees for the 2002 "Hollywood Movie of the Year Awards" competition. The announcement was made today in Hollywood by Carlos de Abreu, Founder and Executive Director of the Hollywood Film Festival.
The nominees for the "Hollywood Movie of the Year Award" are: THE BOURNE IDENTITY, MINORITY REPORT, MONSOON WEDDING, MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING, ROAD TO PERDITION, and Y TU MAMA TAMPIEN.
The nominees for the "Hollywood Actor of the Year Award" are: MATT DAMON, HUGH GRANT, TOM HANKS, PAUL NEWMAN, DENNIS QUAID, and ROBIN WILLIAMS.
The nominees for the "Hollywood Actress of the Year Award" are: JENNIFER ANISTON, ELLEN BURSTYN, JODIE FOSTER, DIANE LANE, BEBE NEUWIRTH, and NIA VARDALOS.
A Blue Ribbon committee of established Hollywood professionals selected the 6 award nominees in each category, and the winners will be chosen by film fans at voting polls at the Yahoo! Movies website, at Entertainment Tonight's website, at Hollywood Video's website, and in over 1,800 Hollywood Video stores across the United States. The voting starts September 10 and the winners will receive their awards at the "Hollywood Movie Awards Gala Ceremony" on October 7 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Last year's winners were the movie "Moulin Rouge," directed by Baz Luhrmann, Nicole Kidman, and Ewan McGregor, who accepted their awards at the Festival's gala closing night "Hollywood Movie Awards" dinner in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Prior years' winners have included Angelina Jolie, Russell Crowe, Drew Barrymore, and Jackie Chan.
The Festival will also present honors at its Hollywood Movie Awards Gala Ceremony to Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Jody Williams, MPAA president Jack Valenti, actress Jodie Foster, director Martin Scorsese, actress Naomi Watts, director McG, screenwriter Robert Towne, producers Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher, cinematographer Janusz Kaminski, editor Pietro Scalia, composer Marc Shaiman, songwriter Carole Bayer Sager, production designer Harold Michelson, and casting director Marcia Ross.
The 2002 Annual Hollywood Film Festival incorporates in its activities the Hollywood Film Conference, Hollywood Humanitarian Symposium, Hollywood Film Screenings, and Hollywood Movie Awards.
This year's Festival will take place from October 2 to 7, and it will showcase a selection of soon-to-be-announced prestigious domestic and international feature films, shorts, documentaries, and animation. The venues include the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel for the "Hollywood Film Conference," ArcLight Cinemas for the "Hollywood Film Screenings" and "Hollywood Film Symposium," and the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the "Hollywood Movie Awards."
