Hollywood festival to reward McG, Foster, Watts
Two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster will receive the Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Acting Award at this year's Hollywood Film Festival. Additionally, actress Naomi Watts ("Mulholland Drive") and director McG ("Charlie's Angels") will receive Hollywood Breakthrough Awards at the Oct. 7 ceremony at the Beverly Hilton.
Foster began acting at age 3 and achieved widespread critical acclaim as a child for her roles in "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" in 1974 and "Taxi Driver" in 1976. She won Academy Awards for her roles in "The Accused" (1988) and "The Silence of the Lambs" (1991). Most recently, Foster starred in the hit thriller "Panic Room" and "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys," which she also produced.
Watts received widespread critical raves for her performance in David Lynch's award-winning "Mulholland Drive" last year. She will be seen in the upcoming "The Ring," "Plots With a View" and "Le Divorce."
"Charlie's Angels" was the successful feature directing debut for McG, who made his name in commercials and music videos. He is shooting the sequel, "Charlie's Angels: Halo," and is developing a new Superman feature for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Other honorees at this year's Hollywood Film Festival will include Martin Scorsese, Robert Towne, Lucy Fisher and Douglas Wick. Details: www.hollywoodfestival.com.
