3RD ANNUAL HOLLYWOOD FILM FESTIVAL UNVEILS 1999 DATES

Hollywood, CA. -- February 8, 1999 -- The Hollywood Film Festival will mark its triumphant return on August 4, 1999, to the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and Paramount Studios for a third annual, weeklong series of screenings, seminars, competitions, awards, and other unique festivities. The announcement was made by Mr. Carlos de Abreu, Founder and Executive Director of the Hollywood Film Festival.
The Festival's Hollywood Discovery Awards® competition will showcase a selection of both domestic and international features, shorts, documentaries and animation.
This year's Festival includes the first Hollywood Film Market whose Board of Advisors, chaired by entertainment attorney Mark Litwak, includes executives of more than 20 distribution companies including A-Pix/Unapix Entertainment, All Channel Films, Amazing Movies, Bedford Entertainment, Curb Entertainment, Davis Entertainment Classics, Eastman Kodak, Film Arts Foundation, First Look/Overseas Filmgroup, Front Street Productions, Legacy Releasing, Leo Films, New Line Cinema, Paramount Pictures, Phaedra Cinema, Porchlight Entertainment, Showcase Entertainment, Seventh Art Releasing, Shoreline Entertainment, Strand Releasing and Stratosphere Entertainment.
The Festival also established a Hollywood Community Board of Advisors chaired by Paramount Studios Group President Earl Lestz and comprised of community leaders who include Joerg Agin, President, Entertainment Imaging - Kodak, J. R. DeLang, President, TODD AO Group, Cyril Drabinsky, President, Deluxe Film Lab, Jeff Edell, President/CEO, SoundDelux, Chris Essel, Chair, California State Film Commission, Michael Klausman, President, CBS Studio Center, David Miller, President, D-Rez, Mark Pick, Owner, Sunset-Gower Studios, George Rosenthal, President, Raleigh Enterprises, Arnie Shupak, President, Sony Pictures, Studio Operations/Administration, Barry Stultz, President, F.P.C. Inc., A Kodak Company, Albert Sweet, President, Albert Sweet Development, and Christopher Ursitti, Co-Owner, LA Center Studios.
Last year's Festival was a resounding success with more than 400 film submissions, and in the past two years over 250 industry professionals have participated as panelists in the Hollywood Conference, including executives from BBC, Columbia/TriStar, Paramount, Walt Disney, Miramax, New Line, Fox Searchlight, the Samuel Goldwyn Co., NBC, Overseas FilmGroup, Showtime Networks, Fox 2000 and Buena Vista Home Video and agents from CAA, ICM, Metropolitan, William Morris and Writers & Artists among others. The Festival culminated with the Hollywood Film Awards Gala Ceremony which took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and was a powerful and heartfelt event with over 800 guests. The presenters included Peter Berg, John Briley, James Brolin, Ted Kotcheff, Jon Landau, Martin Landau, Mimi Leder, Penelope Ann Miller, Sydney Pollack, Mark Rydell, Rod Steiger, and Lesley Ann Warren, and our honorees were Shelley Winters, Richard D. Zanuck, David Brown, Norman Jewison, Dave Grusin, and Stewart Copeland. The former Governor of California, Pete Wilson, issued proclamations to all of our award recipients. Other celebrities who have participated in our festival include David Carradine, Harry Hamlin, Kirstie Alley, Kirk Douglas, Connie Stevens, Barbra Streisand and James Woods among others.
