HOLLYWOOD FILM FESTIVAL - CRAFT KUDOS HONOREES

Cinematographer Roger Deakins, film composer Alexandre Desplat, editor Dana Glauberman, production designer Rick Carter, and costume designer Colleen Atwood to be feted at Hollywood Awards Gala.

HOLLYWOOD, CA, September 8, 2009 -- The 13th Annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards, presented by Starz, are pleased to announce their craft honorees for this year's Hollywood Awards. The festival and awards will mark their return on October 21 for a weeklong series of screenings, competitions and awards.

Cinematographer Roger Deakins, A.S.C., will receive the "Hollywood Cinematographer Award," Composer Alexandre Desplat, BMI, will be given the "Hollywood Film Composer Award," editor Dana Glauberman, A.C.E., will be honored with the "Hollywood Editor Award," production designer Rick Carter, A.D.G., will receive the "Hollywood Production Designer Award" and costume designer Colleen Atwood, C.D.G., will be honored with the "Hollywood Costume Designer Award."

The Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on October 26, 2009.

ABOUT THE HONOREES: Cinematographer Roger Deakins received eight Oscar nominations for "The Reader," "No Country for Old Men," "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," "The Man Who Wasn't There," "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" "Kundun," "Fargo" and "The Shawshank Redemption." His most recent project is Focus Features' "A Serious Man," directed by Ethan Coen and Joel Coen. His prior movies include Sam Mendes' "Revolutionary Road," starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, John Patrick Shanley's "Doubt," starring Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams, Paul Haggis' "In the Valley of Elah," Ron Howard's "A Beautiful Mind," the Coen brothers' "The Big Lebowski" and many other great films.

Composer Alexandre Desplat received two Oscar nominations for his scores for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "The Queen." Most recently he composed the scores for Apparition's "The Tree of Life," directed by Terrence Malick and starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn, Chris Weitz's "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, Wes Anderson's "Fantastic Mr. Fox," Columbia's "Julie  & Julia," directed by Nora Ephron and starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams, as well as the scores for "The Army of Crime," "Un Prophete," "Coco Before Chanel," and "Cheri," among many other films.

Editor Dana Glauberman received American Cinema Editors nominations for her work on "Juno" and "Thank You for Smoking." Her latest film is Paramount Pictures' "Up in the Air," directed by Jason Reitman and starring George Clooney and Jason Bateman. Her most recent movies include "Love Happens," starring Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart. Other films she has edited include Fox Searchlight Pictures' "Juno," directed by Jason Reitman and starring Ellen Page and Michael Cera, George Hickenlooper's "Factory Girl," starring Sienna Miller and Guy Pearce, "Thank You for Smoking," and "Heart of the Beholder," among others.

Production designer Rick Carter received an Academy Award nomination for his work on Robert Zemeckis' "Forrest Gump," starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. His upcoming film is James Cameron's "Avatar." Carter's career includes production design for numerous movies, including Steven Spielberg's "Munich," "War of the Worlds," "The Polar Express," "Artificial Intelligence: AI," "Cast Away," " What Lies Beneath," "Amistad," "Contact," "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," "Jurassic Park," Back to the Future Part II," and "Empire of the Sun," among many others.

Costume designer Colleen Atwood won Best Costume Design Oscars for "Memoirs of a Geisha" and "Chicago," and she has received five other nominations for her work on "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events," "Sleepy Hollow," "Beloved" and "Little Women." Her upcoming projects include Rob Marshall's "Nine." Some of Ms. Atwood's other films, among more than 40 she has designed, include Michael Mann's "Public Enemies," J.J. Abrams' "Mission Impossible III," "Big Fish," "Planet of the Apes," "Gattaca," "Mars Attacks!" "That Thing You Do!" "The Juror," "Ed Wood," "Wyatt Earp," "Philadelphia," "The Silence of the Lambs," "Edward Scissorhands," "Joe Versus the Volcano," "Torch Song Trilogy" and "Married to the Mob."
