HOLLYWOOD FEST ANNOUNCES
CRAFT KUDOS HONOREES
Cinematographer Stephen Goldblatt, editor Joe Hutshing, film composer Mark Isham, and production designer Dante Ferretti to be feted at Hollywood Awards Gala
HOLLYWOOD, CA, August 15, 2007 -- The 11th Annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards, presented by Starz, are pleased to announce honorees who will be recognized for their outstanding achievements at the festival's Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony, which will take place on October 22, 2007, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Oscar®-nominated cinematographer Stephen Goldblatt will receive the "Hollywood Cinematographer of the Year Award," Academy Award-winning editor Joe Hutshing will be honored with the "Hollywood Editor of the Year Award," Academy Award-nominated composer Mark Isham will get the "Hollywood Composer of the Year Award," and Oscar®-winning production designer Dante Ferretti will receive the "Hollywood Production Designer of the Year Award."
The "Hollywood Awards" will be bestowed upon the honorees during the Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony on Monday evening, October 22, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The announcement was made today by Carlos de Abreu, Founder and Executive Director of the Hollywood Film Festival. Said Mr. de Abreu, "We are honored that Stephen Goldblatt, Joe Hutshing, Mark Isham, and Dante Ferretti will be honored for their outstanding work and creative vision at this year's festival."
Cinematographer Stephen Goldblatt, ASC, BSC, received Academy Award nominations for "Batman Forever" and "The Prince of Tides." He is also the cinematographer of Mike Nichols' upcoming "Charlie Wilson's War," due for release in December. Goldblatt was born in South Africa and moved to the United Kingdom when he was a boy. He began his career as a news photographer and photo editor and then moved into motion picture photography. A short list of his other memorable narrative film credits includes "The Hunger," "The Cotton Club," "Lethal Weapon," "Lethal Weapon 2," "Everybody's All-American," "The Pelican Brief," "Closer" and "Rent."
Editor Joe Hutshing, A.C.E., is a two-time Academy Award winner, honored for his work on Oliver Stone's "Born on the Fourth of July" and "JFK." He received Oscar® nominations for Cameron Crowe's "Jerry Maguire" and "Almost Famous," he has been honored several times by the American Cinema Editors for his work, and he is an Emmy award winner for the HBO film "Live from Baghdad." Hutshing is currently the editor of Robert Redford's "Lions for Lambs," due for release in November. He previously collaborated with Nancy Meyers on "The Holiday" and "Something's Gotta Give," and with Oliver Stone on "Wall Street" (as associate editor), "Talk Radio," and "The Doors." Hutshing also edited "Indecent Proposal," "French Kiss," "Broken Arrow," "Meet Joe Black," "Vanilla Sky," "The River Wild," and "The Skeleton Key," and he was associate editor on "Being John Malkovich."
Composer Mark Isham received an Oscar® nomination for his score for "A River Runs Through It." This year he is composing for Robert Redford's "Lions for Lambs," as well as "In the Valley of Elah" by Paul Haggis and "Reservation Road" by Terry George. Some of Isham's memorable scores include "Crash," "Bobby," and "The Black Dahlia." Other recent highlights include "Eight Below," "Running Scared," "The Cooler," "Blade," "Nell," "Men of Honor," and "Miracle."
Production designer Dante Ferretti, A.D.G., received an Oscar® for the production design on Martin Scorsese's "The Aviator." He is currently the production designer on Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street." Ferretti received another six Academy Award nominations for his work on "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen," "Hamlet," "The Age of Innocence," "Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles," "Kundun," and "Gangs of New York."
