PRODUCTION DESIGNER JOHN MYHRE TO RECEIVE
HOLLYWOOD FILM FESTIVAL® HOLLYWOOD PRODUCTION DESIGNER OF THE YEAR AWARD AT FESTIVAL'S 10TH ANNUAL AWARDS PRESENTATION, OCT. 23
HOLLYWOOD, CA, July 8, 2006 -- The 2005 Academy Award-winning Production Designer John Myhre will receive the Hollywood Film Festival's
Hollywood Production Designer of the Year Award at the Festival's
October 23 awards ceremony. The Hollywood Film Festival® is co-chaired by Paula Wagner and presented by STARZ. Myhre's selection was determined for his distinguished body of work by a recommendation of the Council of
the Art Directors Guild (ADG). Myhre received his second Oscar® for
the production design on "Memoirs of a Geisha," which also garnered him
the ADG Award for Excellence in Production Design for a Period or
Fantasy Film.
The award will be presented to Myhre during the Festival's black-tie
awards ceremony banquet before a gathering of 1,200 industry and
guild executives, stars, celebrities, filmmakers and media, from the
International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Previous recipients of the Festival's Production Designer honors are
Stuart Craig, William Creber, Harold Michelson, Robert Boyle, Henry
Bumstead and Grant Major.
John Myhre's first Academy Award came in 1998 for "Chicago." Both of
his Oscar®-winning films were directed by Rob Marshall. Myhre was
nominated for an Academy Award for his work on "Elizabeth." He was
Production Designer on Dreamworks' upcoming "Dreamgirls" and will be
working on the epic "Buddha," set to go before the cameras in November.
Among his other production designer credits are "Ali," "X-Men,"
"Anna Karenina" and "Foxfire."
