HOLLYWOOD, CA, March 10, 2005 -- In their ninth year, the Hollywood Film Festival® and Hollywood Awards® announce their new dates and call for entries.
"We are very excited to be having our ninth annual festival and awards from October 18 to 24 at Arclight Cinemas. Last year's festival was one of the best yet, with our awards going to such Hollywood notables as Annette Bening, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Mel Gibson, Michael Mann and John Travolta, newcomers Zach Braff and Keira Knightley and international directors Alejandro Amenabar and Walter Salles," Executive Director Carlos de Abreu announced.
This year the festival will be expanding its film program and over 100 films will be showcased. They are accepting features, docs, shorts and screenplays. The submission deadline is March 31st.
"We are very proud that our diverse programming has grown immensely in the last few years and our quality screenings have included films like "A Love Song for Bobby Long," "Enduring Love," "Finding Neverland," "Girl With a Pearl Earring," "P.S.," "Shattered Glass," "The Human Stain," "The Machinist" and "Undertow"-- among many others.
"In the last two years, a total of 34 Oscar® nominations and 7 Oscars® were given to films the festival showcased and to the nominees and honorees of the Hollywood Awards. We are very pleased that we have became a recognized launchpad for award contenders," de Abreu said.
Prior years' Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony nominees, honorees and presenters have been a virtual "who's who" of Hollywood's A-list talent and executives including Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale, Annette Bening, Halle Berry, Orlando Bloom, Sandra Bullock, Chris Columbus, Russell Crowe, Cameron Crowe, Billy Crystal, Benicio Del Toro, Danny DeVito, Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Colin Farrell, Harrison Ford, Jodie Foster, Jamie Foxx, Mel Gibson, Taylor Hackford, Tom Hanks, Goldie Hawn, Anthony Hopkins, Ron Howard, Scarlett Johansson, Angelina Jolie, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Diane Keaton, Nicole Kidman, Regina King, Laura Linney, Lucy Liu, George Lucas, Michael Mann, Matthew McConaughey, McG, Ewan McGregor, Sam Mendes, Mike Myers, Amy Pascal, Sydney Pollack, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Martin Scorsese, Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith, Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Charlize Theron, John Travolta, Robert Towne, Paula Wagner and Naomi Watts among many others.
The Hollywood Film Festival kicks off October 18 for a seven-day series of screenings and special presentations with Q/A sessions at Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood. On October 24, the festival culminates with the prestigious Hollywood Awards, which honor established Hollywood and international talent and emerging filmmakers.
