Hollywood, CA -- April 14, 2005 -- The 9th Annual Hollywood Film Festival announces the launching of the Hollywood KIDS Film Festival™ and Hollywood KIDS Awards™ to highlight and celebrate the FAMILY
GENRE in Hollywood.
"We are very excited that we will be recognizing filmmakers who are dedicated to the family genre, as well as providing a forum for children and their families to celebrate the art of cinema. The selected films will contain important messages and creative imagery," festival founder Carlos de Abreu said.
The Hollywood KIDS Film Festival is comprised of the HOLLYWOOD KIDS FILM SHOWCASE and the HOLLYWOOD KIDS AWARDS which will feature and honor films from both emerging filmmakers and film masters.
"We will be offering a diverse lineup of films from around the world, including animation, shorts, documentaries, and feature films during the Hollywood Film Festival, October 18 to 24.
"We are very proud that our diverse programming has grown immensely in the last few years and our quality screenings have included films like 'A Love Song for Bobby Long,' 'Enduring Love,' 'Finding Neverland,' 'Girl With a Pearl Earring,' 'P.S.,' 'Shattered Glass,' 'The Machinist' and 'Undertow' -- among many others," de Abreu said.
Last year's festival was a smashing success, attracting over 25,000 moviegoers, and receiving extensive coverage in all the major local and national publications, including "USA Today," "The New York Times," "Los Angeles Times," "People," "The Hollywood Reporter," "Daily Variety," "US Weekly" and "Newsweek," in addition to national broadcasts of "Access Hollywood," "Entertainment Tonight," E! Entertainment, "Extra," ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and FOX among others.
The Hollywood Film Festival kicks off October 18 for a seven-day series of screenings and special presentations with Q/A sessions at Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood. On October 24, the festival culminates with the prestigious Hollywood Awards, which honor both Hollywood and international talent.
