THE HOLLYWOOD FILM FESTIVAL REVEALS ITS 2002 HOLLYWOOD MOVIE OF THE YEAR, ACTOR OF THE YEAR, & ACTRESS OF THE YEAR WINNERS


The motion picture "Minority Report," actor Tom Hanks, and actress Jennifer Aniston will be honored by the Hollywood Film Festival, October 7,
at the Hollywood Movie Awards Gala Ceremony.

Hollywood, CA -- October 1, 2002 -- The 6th Annual Hollywood Film Festival has announced that Steven Spielberg's "Minority Report" from DreamWorks will receive this year's "Hollywood Movie of the Year Award," actor Tom Hanks will be honored with the "Hollywood Actor of the Year Award" and actress Jennifer Aniston will receive the "Hollywood Actress of the Year Award" at the Hollywood Movie Awards Gala Ceremony, Monday, October 7, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The winners were chosen by the public voting at the Yahoo! Movies website, movies.yahoo.com, Entertainment Tonight's website, ETOnline.com, and Hollywood Video's website, HollywoodVideo.com, and at over 1,800 Hollywood Video stores nationwide.

The announcement was made today by Carlos de Abreu, Founder and Executive Director of the Hollywood Film Festival. "The response by the public was tremendous, and we're very pleased to honor their choices of "Minority Report" and the talented stars Jennifer Aniston and Tom Hanks," said Mr de Abreu.

The public had six nominees in each category to choose from when casting their ballots. The nominees for "Hollywood Movie of the Year" were "The Bourne Identity," "Minority Report," "Monsoon Wedding," "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," "Road to Perdition," and "Y Tu Mamá También." The nominees for "Hollywood Actor of the Year" were Matt Damon, Hugh Grant, Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, Dennis Quaid, and Robin Williams. The nominees for "Hollywood Actress of the Year Award" were Jennifer Aniston, Ellen Burstyn, Jodie Foster, Diane Lane, Bebe Neuwirth, and Nia Vardalos.

The Festival will culminate with the Hollywood Movie Awards Gala Ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Monday evening, October 7, 2002.

In addition to presenting the "Hollywood Movie, Actor, and Actress of the Year Awards," the evening's highlights will include a presentation of the "Hollywood Leadership Award" to Jack Valenti, "Hollywood Humanitarian Award" to Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Jody Williams, "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Acting Award" to Jodie Foster, "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Directing Award" to Martin Scorsese, "Hollywood Tex Avery Animation Award" to Jeffrey Katzenberg, "Hollywood Breakthrough Acting Award" to Naomi Watts, "Hollywood Breakthrough Directing Award" to McG, "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Screenwriting Award" to Robert Towne, "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Producing Award" to Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher, "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography Award" to Janusz Kaminski, "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Editing Award" to Pietro Scalia, "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Music in Film Award" to composer Marc Shaiman, "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Songwriting Award" to Carole Bayer Sager, "Hollywood Richard Sylbert Outstanding Achievement in Production Design Award" to Harold Michelson, and "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Casting Award" to Marcia Ross.

Confirmed presenters and guests at the Hollywood Movie Awards Gala Ceremony include Drew Barrymore, Halle Berry, Billy Crystal, Benicio Del Toro, Danny DeVito, Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Colin Farrell, Lucy Liu, Garry Marshall, Matthew McConaughey, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steven Spielberg, Elizabeth Taylor and Hans Zimmer among many others.

The six-day Festival takes place from October 2 to 7 and includes the Hollywood Film Conference at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, the Hollywood Humanitarian Symposium, which includes panel discussions, and the Hollywood Film Screenings at Arclight Cinemas where the finalists of the Hollywood Discovery Awards will be screened.
