The winner of the Hollywood Movie of the Year Award was Gore Verbinski's "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," the winners of the Hollywood Actor and Actress of the Year Award were Johnny Depp and Diane Lane, and the winners of the Hollywood Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress of the Year Award were Geoffrey Rush and Alison Lohman.

Actor Jack Lemmon, who thrilled audiences and critics alike for half a century with his great comic and dramatic performances, and who won two Academy Awards for them, received the Hollywood Lifetime Achievement Award at the Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony, August 9, 1999. Over a thousand guests attended the Gala Ceremony, which honored Jack Lemmon, Drew Barrymore, James Caan, Jackie Chan, John Schlesinger, Irwin Winkler, Dede Allen, Jerry Goldsmith, Johnny Grant, Janet Hirshenson and Jane Jenkins, and the winners of the Hollywood Discovery Awards®. Presenters included Jan DeBont, Martha Coolidge, Arthur Hiller, Val Kilmer, Martin Landau, Michelle Manning, Mark Rydell, Neil Simon, Patrick Swayze, and Jon Voight, among others. The event took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and was hosted by E! Entertainment's Steve Kmetko.

The presenters included Peter Berg, John Briley, James Brolin, Ted Kotcheff, Jon Landau, Martin Landau, Mimi Leder, Penelope Ann Miller, Sydney Pollack, Mark Rydell, Rod Steiger and Lesley Ann Warren, and our honorees were Shelley Winters, Richard D.
