Two young Americans, a pretty girl named Lidda (Kirsten Dunst) and a 21-year-old named Colonel, set out on an impromptu road trip from Nebraska to Las Vegas. Lidda wishes to have a reunion with her long lost father, Charlie (James Caan), a professional poker player. Once in "Luckytown," Colonel wants to claim the free-wheeling Vegas lifestyle as his own. Lidda and Colonel quickly learn that fate and fortune play out in unpredictable ways. An offbeat romantic thriller, Luckytown follows them at the crossroads of their lives as they struggle to love and survive. They must win big in Vegas to save their futures, their families, and their love.

When a glamorous city publisher shows up to sign "Ruby Vale" to a major book deal, Jack must convince the real Ruby Vale to play along. Out of their depth, Jack and Ruby are drawn closer together coping with a whirlwind publicity tour. A comedy of errors ensues, as two romantic triangles collide.
