DIRECTOR RICHARD DONNER TO RECEIVE THE
"HOLLYWOOD OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN DIRECTING AWARD"

Renowned Director of "Lethal Weapon" "Superman" and "The Omen" Richard Donner
To Be Honored August 7, 2000, At The Hollywood Film Awards Gala Ceremony
Hollywood, CA -- June 20, 2000 -- The 4th Annual Hollywood Film Festival has announced that distinguished director Richard Donner, whose films include such highly successful films as the "Lethal Weapon" series, "The Omen" and "Superman" will be honored with the festival's "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Directing Award." The announcement was made today by Carlos de Abreu, Founder and Executive Director of the Hollywood Film Festival.
Regarding the announcement, Mr. de Abreu states "Mr. Donner's filmography is a demonstration of excellence. His outstanding vision, talent and command of his craft have made him one of Hollywood's most accomplished and highly regarded directors."
The "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Directing Award" will be bestowed upon Mr. Donner as part of the Hollywood Film Awards Gala Ceremony on Monday evening, August 7, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Mr. Donner's films include the "Lethal Weapon," series starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, "Conspiracy Theory," "Assassin," "Maverick," "Radio Flyer," "Ladyhawke," "The Toy," "Inside Moves," "Superman" and "The Omen." As a director he has worked with such stars as Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Sylvester Stallone, Antonio Banderas, Julianne Moore, Jodie Foster, Matthew Broderick, Michelle Pfeiffer, Richard Pryor, Jackie Gleason, Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Christopher Reeve, Gregory Peck and Lee Remick. His work has also included highly regarded work in television, including such classic shows as "Wanted Dead or Alive," "The Rifleman," and "The Twilight Zone."
Last year's Hollywood Film Awards Gala Ceremony honored Jack Lemmon, Drew Barrymore, James Caan, Jackie Chan, John Schlesinger, Irwin Winkler, Dede Allen, Jerry Goldsmith, Johnny Grant, Janet Hirshenson and Jane Jenkins, and the winners of the Hollywood Discovery Awards. The presenters included Jan DeBont, Martha Coolidge, Arthur Hiller, Val Kilmer, Martin Landau, Earl Lestz, Michelle Manning, Mark Rydell, Neil Simon, Patrick Swayze, and Jon Voight. The event was hosted by E Entertainment's Steve Kmetko.
