Hollywood Awards® Criteria

HOLLYWOOD FILM AWARDS®: Honoring excellence in the art of filmmaking. Our "film awards" are bestowed on HONOREES, not nominees. The recipients are not competing; they are selected to be honored for their body of work and/or a film(s) that is to be released between January 1 and December 31. In addition, for the recipients of our "film awards craft categories" (aside from evaluating their body of work), we also take into consideration the recommendation of their guilds/societies.
HOLLYWOOD BREAKTHROUGH AWARDS®: Our "breakthrough awards" (breakout) are bestowed on HONOREES who are actors or filmmakers whose work has generated a heightened awareness which will move them to a higher level of recognition.
HOLLYWOOD SPOTLIGHT AWARDS™: Our "spotlight awards" are bestowed on HONOREES who are up-and-coming talent, as well as established talent who stand out as the stars of the future.
SELECTION PROTOCOL: The selection process for our HONOREES takes multiple elements into consideration and involves attending pre-press private industry screenings, press screenings, festival screenings, and research. It also includes the support and participation of established entertainment industry executives, from agents, critics, directors, managers, producers, publicists, screenwriters and studio execs to members of the craft guilds. The Co-Chairs of the 08 Hollywood Awards® were festival founder Carlos de Abreu and screenwriter/director Paul Haggis.
HOLLYWOOD MOVIE AWARDS®: Our "movie awards" is the ONLY category that is comprised of 10 NOMINEES selected by the Hollywood Awards® in-house committee. The WINNER is decided by movie fans voting online at the Yahoo! Movies website.
HOLLYWOOD DISCOVERY AWARDS®: The "discovery awards" honor the winners of the Hollywood
Film Festival's selected finalists in the categories
of Features, Documentaries, and
Shorts. The finalists are culled
from films from the global creative community:
African, Asian, European, Hollywood and Latin Cinema.
Criteria:The awards'
criteria is based on the quality of filmmaking
in all of its different disciplines.
Selection Protocol:Winners are selected by HFF's in-house team.
Venue:The Hollywood Discovery Awards® are bestowed upon the winners the evening of the last screening day at ArcLight Cinemas.
