ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATED ACTOR JAMES CAAN
TO RECEIVE THE "HOLLYWOOD OUTSTANDING
ACHIEVEMENT IN ACTING" AWARD

To Be Honored August 9, 1999,
At The Hollywood Film Awards Gala Ceremony
Hollywood, CA -- June 14, 1999 -- The 3rd Annual Hollywood Film Festival has announced that actor James Caan, whose body of work consists of more than 50 feature films, will be honored with the festival's "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Acting Award." The announcement was made today by Carlos de Abreu, Founder and Executive Director of the Hollywood Film Festival.
Mr. Caan's versatile and critically acclaimed work includes his performance as Sonny Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's "The Godfather," for which he received an Academy Award nomination, as well as his performances in Rob Reiner's "Misery," based on the novel by Stephen King, Mark Rydell's "For the Boys," Francis Ford Coppola's "The Rain People," and his performance as football player Brian Piccolo in the television movie "Brian's Song," which earned him an Emmy nomination.
Mr. Caan's work as an actor includes a wide range of roles in more than 50 films including "Cinderella Liberty," "The Gambler," "Funny Lady," "A Bridge Too Far," "Thief," "T.R. Baskin," "Rollerball," "Silent Movie," "The Killer Elite," "Comes a Horseman," "Gardens of Stone," "Alien Nation,", "Flesh and Bone," "Honeymoon in Vegas," "Eraser," and "This Is My Father" among many others.
Regarding the announcement, Mr. de Abreu states, "Mr. Caan is one of Hollywood's most accomplished actors. His distinguished career entertaining audiences worldwide for more than 35 years in over 50 films is an example of what all performers should strive for."
The "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Acting Award" will be bestowed upon Mr. Caan as part of the gala awards ceremony on Monday evening, August 9, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
